The Miami Dolphins have spent the offseason purging their roster of former Alabama stars.

First, it was cutting former franchise QB Tua Tagovailoa, whom the Dolphins selected with the 5th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Tagovailoa will continue to carry a significant cap hit on the Miami team sheet anyway, as they still owe him a lot of money from the contract extension he signed a few years ago.

After that, the Dolphins traded former Tide star DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, whom the franchise had re-acquired in a trade before the start of last season, to the New York Jets.

And now, former Alabama WR Jaylen Waddle is on the move.

On Tuesday, the Dolphins agreed to trade Waddle, along with a fourth round pick in this year's draft, to the Denver Broncos in exchange for the 30th overall pick, along with third and fourth round picks, per ESPN's Adam Schefter:

Waddle has to be ecstatic to be moved from a rebuilding Dolphins team to a Broncos team that fell just short in last season's AFC Championship Game. He'll get his first real opportunity to play for a contending team in the Mile High City.

Waddle was the sixth overall pick by the Dolphins in the 2021 draft class and produced over 5000 receiving yards through his first five seasons with the team. After three straight 1000-yard receiving seasons to open his career, Waddle's numbers have fallen a bit over the last two years, thanks in part to inconsistent quarterback play.

Waddle played three seasons for Alabama from 2018-2020, producing 1999 receiving yards and 17 receiving touchdowns during that time. He was a two-time SEC champion and helped the Crimson Tide win the 2020 national championship.

Waddle will join a Broncos team with two other former Crimson Tide players on the roster in CB Pat Surtain II and OLB Que Robinson.
