4-star DL Nolan Wilson was a major recruiting win for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama football this summer. Wilson, the No. 57 overall player in the 2026 class according to the 247 composite rankings, committed to the Crimson Tide on July 4th.

Alabama was the first to offer the Picayune, Mississippi native, and that early relationship paid major dividends during the process. Miami (FL) finished as the runner-up, and Mario Cristobal's Hurricanes are not giving up that easily.

Miami has stayed in contact with Wilson since his commitment, and they've done enough to get him on campus this weekend for their big matchup against Notre Dame on Sunday:

Fall visits don't always mean much of anything. Put yourself in the kid's shoes, and you realize pretty quickly how difficult it would be to turn down an all-expenses-paid trip to watch one of the top college football games of the opening weekend. I wouldn't turn it down. You wouldn't either.

Regardless, Wilson visiting Coral Gables will serve to produce some anxiety for Tide fans who know just how important the 4-star defensive lineman is to this class.

Alabama has to hang on to Nolan Wilson after losing out on Tank Jones

Wilson was always a big fish for DeBoer, but he became all the more important after 5-star in-state DL Tank Jones committed to Oregon over Alabama. While the Crimson Tide will not be giving up its pursuit of Jones, it will still need to do whatever it takes to hang on to Wilson, as getting Jones to flip away from the Ducks is far from a guarantee.

Alabama will undoubtedly be looking to get Wilson on campus for a game or two this fall, too. Unfortunately, there are no major home games for the Crimson Tide in the first month of the season. Alabama's two biggest games in the first month are on the road - at Florida State this weekend and at Georgia on September 27th.

They'll have some recruits attend the matchup against Wisconsin on September 13th, but you'll see the most high-profile of the Tide's commitments and remaining targets in town in either October or November for matchups against the likes of Tennessee, LSU, or Oklahoma.
