ESPN's new CFP predictions would be Alabama lights out for Kalen DeBoer

It's wild how things can change in only a few days.

There was so much promise for Alabama football leading up to Week 1. In the span of 3-4 hours, all that excitement is now gone. The Crimson Tide dropped the ball against Florida State, losing 31-17 despite being 14-point favorites.

The offense couldn't do much of anything and defensively, there were no answers for Thomas Castellanos and Co. So, now what for the Tide? This season feels lost already and it's just Sept. 1. How can this be the case?

The fact of the matter is that DeBoer was on the hot seat entering the new year and losing by 14 points to open the new campaign has that seat scorching. ESPN doesn't see Bama turning things around, as their experts locked in their new CFP predictions, and the Tide are nowhere to be seen... by anyone.

Kalen DeBoer wants his players to play with an edge - maybe he should coach with one

Alabama football now needs a prayer to sneak into the College Football Playoff

What have Alabama fans done to deserve this? Again, the hype surrounding this team was through the roof leading up to kickoff and now the tires have been let out of everyone's proverbial cars. We've all gone from driving a Ferrari to a used 1989 Honda Accord, folks.

That's the feeling now that Nick Saban is retired and DeBoer is falling flat on his face. DeBoer has passionately said that he still believes in this roster and that he's confident Alabama will be able to get back on track after being on the wrong end of a haymaker from Florida State.

There's no more room for error here. If DeBoer loses another game - just one - the calls for him to get fired are going to get even louder coming out of Tuscaloosa. It will also wipe away any shot of the Tide sneaking into the College Football Playoff.

If that ends up being the case for the second year in a row, then it's 100 percent going to be lights out for DeBoer in running this team. He had it made with Washington, but he took a giant leap to take over with Alabama and be a big name in the SEC. His buyout is unreal, but it's something the university must already have on its mind, with replacements already being considered too among the fanbase.
