Nobody accumulated and developed talent quite like Nick Saban. Since Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa in 2007, the amount of talent that has come through Tuscaloosa has been staggering.
Today is the NFL Draft and Alabama football will add to its astonishing draft numbers since Saban's Tuscaloosa arrival. Even with the legendary coach now retired, his influence is still obvious with the Tide's three potential first round picks all being players Saban recruited out of high school.
Plenty of programs claim to be the best at producing talent at particular positions. This team claims QBU. That team claims WRU. But only Alabama can claim NFLU. The Crimson Tide can claim the "U" status of nearly every position, so it just becomes easier to say NFLU.
Pick Six Previews shared a tweet on X that blew the minds of even the most die hard of Crimson Tide fans:
Most NFL Draft Picks by Position
— Pick Six Previews (@PickSixPreviews) April 23, 2025
- SEC, since 2010
QB: Alabama, Oklahoma
RB: Alabama
WR: LSU
TE: Georgia
OL: Alabama
DL: Alabama
LB: Alabama
DB: Alabama
1st Round: Alabama
Overall Picks: Alabama
During Saban's tenure at Alabama, 133 Crimson Tide players were drafted into the NFL, including 47 first-round picks.
A ridiculous amount of talent found its way to Tuscaloosa and that talent ultimately developed.
Alabama football not slowing down in the NFL anytime soon
There's still a ton of talent from the Saban era in the NFL. Guys like Derrick Henry, Jahmyr Gibbs, Josh Jacobs, Pat Surtain, Marlon Humphrey, Xavier McKinney, and others had monster seasons in 2024. They aren't close to done either, and they are certainly not alone.
Several more Tide players will be joining them in the NFL this weekend. Jihaad Campbell, Tyler Booker, and Jalen Milroe could all hear their names called in the first round on Thursday night.
And even though Saban is gone, the talent pipeline in Tuscaloosa is still going strong. Kalen DeBoer just signed a Top 5 recruiting class and has a talented roster lined up for next season.
This Saturday in the fall, you'll see plenty of future pros suiting up in the crimson and white. On Sundays, you'll see the past greats from Alabama football doing their thing on Sunday, dominating the pros like no other program ever has.
So let LSU claim WRU if they want. Let Oklahoma claim QBU if they want, too. Because Alabama is NFLU and there's no disputing that.
