Fired Alabama coach Chris Kapilovic joining the enemy is comical

The grass isn't always greener on the other side, and Chris Kapilovic will just have to learn that the hard way.

Not long after Alabama's season ended at the hands of the eventual National Champion Indiana Hoosiers, head coach Kalen DeBoer began making changes to his coaching staff. One of the biggest changes was firing offensive line Chris Kapilovic.

Kapilovic didn't take too long to find his new position, but it is one that Alabama fans can have a good laugh about. Kapilovic clearly couldn't get it done at Alabama, so he took his talents to Auburn, landing a job as an analyst for the Tigers.

Kapilovic will be assistin first0year offensive line coach Tyler Hudanick, who came to Auburn with new head coach Alex Golesh. After two seasons at Alabama, DeBoer had seen everything he needed to from Kapilovic after subpar play from the offensive line and not protecting quarterback Ty Simpson.

The straw that probably broke the camel's back was when Simpson was sacked three times by Indiana in the Rose Bowl, and it all ended with a 38-3 loss to the Hoosiers. Now at Auburn, the Crimson Tide will see a familiar face in the Iron Bowl, but will probably be happy he is on the other sideline.

The offensive line play seriously declined in 2025 after allowing just 24 total sacks paved the way in the run game with 2,260 rushing yards. The regression began this last season as the line allowed 32 total sacks and helped with only 1,562 rushing yards, nearly 800 less than the year before. Leading rusher Jam Miller in 2025 rushed for just 504 yards and three touchdowns.

The Tide will enter a new era in the offensive line room under new OL coach Adrian Klemm, who is a three-time NFL Super Bowl Champion and has extensive coaching experience in the pros with the Steelers and the Patriots, as well as in college with Oregon and UCLA.
