Projecting top NFL Draft picks before a college season will always be fuzzy. That did not stop ESPN from ranking the top 2027 NFL Draft prospects by their playing position. Alabama Football had four players chosen: Ryan Coleman-Williams, Yhonzae Pierre, Zabien Brown, and Bray Hubbard.
The ESPN duo of Matt Miller and Jordan Reid picked a top five at each position and added one more player as one "to watch." Alabama's Bray Hubbard was the one to watch at safety.
The Texas Longhorns led all SEC teams with nine players as top 2027 draft prospects. The Georgia Bulldogs were close behind the Longhorns with seven. LSU matched the Crimson Tide with four. South Carolina was next with three. Missouri, Ole Miss, and Kentucky came in with two. Four SEC football teams had just one player identified. Four more had none, and all four are on the Alabama Crimson Tide 2026 schedule.
Alabama Football Opponents Top NFL Prospects
- Georgia Bulldogs - Nate Frazier (RB), Lawson Luckie (TE), Drew Bobo (C), Raylen Wilson (LB), Chris Cole (LB), Ellis Robinson IV (CB), and KJ Bolden (S)
- LSU Bengal Tigers - Trey-Dez Green (TE), Jordan Seaton (OT), Braelin Moore (C), and Ty Benefield (S)
- South Carolina Gamecocks - LaNorris Sellers (QB), Jacarrius Peak (OT), and Dylan Stewart (E)
- Kentucky Wildcats - Lance Heard (OT) and Tavion Gadson (DT)
- Mississippi State Bulldogs - Kelley Jones (CB)
Alabama football 2026 SEC opponents Auburn, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, and Tennessee had zero players identified as top 2027 draft prospects. Neither did the Florida State Seminoles.
What do the ESPN projections mean for Alabama in terms of wins and losses? At best, they indicate that in a close contest, Georgia might have more experienced game-changers than the Crimson Tide.
Mostly, the projections provide a narrow and incomplete picture. Players not eligible for the 2027 Draft can and will be game-changers, along with others who will be drafted but not as top prospects.
For Crimson Tide fans it is interesting that Texas A&M had no players identified. The Aggies are expected to a top team nonetheless. Some Alabama fans will chuckle at the absence of top NFL talent for the Auburn Tigers and the Tennessee Vols.
