Philadelphia Eagles fans are bracing for the worst after star offensive guard Landon Dickerson went down with a potentially devastating injury during Sunday night's open practice. Dickerson, the former Alabama All-American and 2020 Rimington Award winner, went down during practice and had to be helped off the field, unable to put any weight on his left leg. The Philadelphia training staff ultimately brought out the cart to wheel him to the back.

Dickerson was selected in the second round by the Eagles in the 2021 NFL Draft and has been an integral part of one of the best offensive lines in the NFL since then. After playing center at Alabama, Dickerson moved to left guard in Philadelphia, and has been named to three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2022-2024. Dickerson helped the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX in February.

Dickerson has emerged as one of the top guards in the NFL. He signed a 4-year, $84 million contract extension with the Eagles last year.

Dickerson is one of the most popular linemen in Alabama football history. After starting his career at Florida State, Dickerson transferred to Alabama for 2019 and 2020. As a senior in 2020, Dickerson was a unanimous All-American, Rimington Award winner, and helped the Crimson Tide win the 2020 National Championship as part of arguably the best team in school history.

Dickerson produced one of the great moments in Alabama football history during the National Championship Game against Ohio State. He went down with a torn ACL in Alabama's SEC Championship Game win over Florida, costing him the College Football Playoff. He lobbied to have one moment during the Tide's blowout win over the Buckeyes, and Nick Saban agreed. Dickerson came into the game to snap the ball during the victory formation as Alabama closed out the program's 18th National Championship.

Clarity on Dickerson's injury should come later on Monday

For Dickerson's sake - and the Philadelphia Eagles' hopes of repeating as Super Bowl champions - hopefully the injury isn't as bad as it looked. It's never a good sign when they have to bring out the cart, but it could have been out of an abundance of caution.

Dickerson is one of the toughest players in the league, and he will play through an injury if it isn't something too devastating.

Clarity on Dickerson's injury should come later on Monday. Fans are bracing for the worst and hoping for the best.
