In June, C.J. Mosley retired from the NFL following an 11-year NFL career that featured two five Pro Bowl appearances and four Second-Team All-Pro seasons. The former Alabama linebacker was a star on the field, leading defenses for the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets from 2014-2024, but now he’s looking to build his legacy off the field with a full-service sports agency Legacy Trust Sports Group.

Mosley, the former Crimson Tide linebacker and two-time national champion is joined in the venture by business partner Brandon Wassel, agent Joe Gazza, and AK Mogulla, who was formerly the scouting director for the Auburn Tigers (all per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports).

CJ Mosley launching full-service sports agency, could Alabama benefit?

Agents are becoming ubiquitous in college athletics, helping athletes navigate the NIL space, and now, since the House vs. NCAA settlement went into place on July 1, revenue-sharing payments. While the agency provides services to all sports both at the collegiate and professional levels, the clients shown in Mosley’s launch video were current and former college football players.

Agencies like Mosley’s will, of course, look out for their client’s best interest, but Mosley’s relationship with Alabama could be an asset in negotiations, and help the Crimson Tide start on better terms with Legacy Trust’s clients than unfamiliar programs. The flip side of that coin, however, is Mosley’s partnership with Mogulla, the former scouting director at Auburn.

Going forward as agencies build more power in the collegiate space, programs and general managers like Courtney Morgan must remain on good terms with the agent to become a potential suitor for that agency’s clients. If an agency has a long list of talented clients, programs will be hesitant to spurn a player from that agency in a negotiation and risk losing access to the rest of the client list. That shouldn’t be a problem for the Tide in this case.

Mosley won’t just funnel talent to Tuscaloosa because he won national titles for the Crimson Tide. That’s not how his new business works and his prerogative is to get his client the best deal in the most ideal landing spot for their development. However, when those interests all align, a deal could get done with relative ease at Mosley’s alma mater.

Mosley went on to become a first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2014 NFL Draft, following back-to-back All-American seasons. He recorded over 100 tackles in each of his final two years with the Tide, after winning consecutive national titles in 2011 and 2012.
