Obviously, as the greatest college football coach of all time, Nick Saban brought in the highest-rated prospects from class after class.
What didn't happen very often was other collegiate programs even trying to poach said prospects from the Alabama Crimson Tide, because why would anyone want to play for a head coach other than Saban if he wanted them?
However, that's exactly what the Miami Hurricanes did after five-star quarterback Julian Sayin committed to the Crimson Tide as the No. 2 QB in the class of 2024.
As the Canes were trying to convince Sayin that the Hurricanes' home was better than Tuscaloosa, a video of the young quarterback went viral. He was in Miami for a trip with his 7-on-7 team, and the coaches were talking about how the nightlife is so much better in Miami than anywhere else.
Specifically, the coach said that Alabama is only fun on Saturdays, and specifically only when the football team wins. The camera and the coach turned right to Sayin, who looked as unimpressed as possible, and the video clip exploded on social media.
Miami never stood a chance at landing Julian Sayin
When he was asked about the video in a recent interview, Sayin openly said that he wasn't all that impressed by Miami, especially since they weren't even good during the season that he came to town.

Not to mention, they were coached by Manny Diaz when Sayin's recruitment process truly began to gather momentum (2019-21), and then the Canes were freshly under current head coach Mario Cristobal when he committed to Alabama instead (2022-present).
To put it quite simply, Sayin was never going to be a Hurricane, and while he may not have stuck around in Tuscaloosa, nobody was ever going to poach him while Saban was still the Crimson Tide's head coach.
Sayin went on to transfer from Alabama to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes, where he has cemented himself as an elite quarterback and cemented his team as the No. 1 team in the country. Alabama has earned a top-four ranking, led by yet another elite quarterback, Ty Simpson.
Last (and certainly least), the Miami Hurricanes have dropped to No. 15 in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings, with a 7-2 overall record.
