Brandon Miller is now a very rich man.
Well, a richer man. He was already pretty rich from his rookie contract with the Charlotte Hornets.
But on Monday, right before the start of the 2026-27 NBA season, Miller and the Hornets agreed to a rookie-scale extension for five years and worth $209 million, per ESPN's Shams Charania:

Brandon Miller just signed the biggest NBA contract for a former Alabama basketball player...ever
Miller agreed to a deal under the max, allowing the Hornets to maintain some cap flexibility in the future. He was eligible for a deal worth $250 million, but he and the organization compromised on $209 million. After trading away LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Hornets will now move forward with Miller and Kon Knueppel as the faces of the franchise.
It's the biggest NBA contract for a former Alabama player in program history. The previous high mark was the $72 million contract signed by Collin Sexton with the Utah Jazz back in 2022. This blows that out of the water.
Miller is entering his fourth season with the Hornets after being selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. He averaged over 20 points per game last season and shot a career-best 38.3% from three. After an injury-plagued start to the season, Miller really picked up the pace in January before hitting a bit of a wall late in the season.
Miller helped lead the Hornets to the NBA's play-in tournament, where they won a thriller over the Miami Heat before getting knocked out by the Orlando Magic and narrowly missing the playoffs.
Prior to getting drafted by the Hornets, Miller spent one season with Alabama basketball. He won the SEC's Player of the Year in 2022-23 and led the Crimson Tide to their best season in school history. Alabama won the SEC regular season and tournament titles and entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed, the first time in program history they'd earned a 1-seed.
Unfortunately, the dream season ended prematurely with a cold shooting night, knocking Alabama out in the Sweet 16 against San Diego State. The 31 wins by that team are a program record.
Miller was a 5-star recruit coming out of high school, but far exceeded even those lofty expectations in Tuscaloosa and is a budding star in the NBA. He's still a month shy of turning 24 years old, too.
Miller and the Hornets open the regular season on Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets, which will be a reunion for Miller with his college teammate, Noah Clowney.
