Just one day after the Alabama basketball season came to an end, AD Greg Byrne was not about to let the offseason be stressful for Crimson Tide fans.

Amid speculation about the North Carolina job opening and other potential major openings on the horizon, it looks like Byrne and Oats have come to an agreement on a possible contract extension.

Oats teased the possibility ahead of the Sweet 16 matchup against Michigan, but also stated he was perfectly fine with his current contract, too. But Byrne knows Oats' value, and knows he wants to do more than keep his head coach satisfied. He wants him ecstatic, and he wants to give him every available resource at the University's disposal to build a national championship team.

On Saturday night, Byrne posted on social media to ease any concern from Alabama fans:

"We are good! He's not going anywhere," Byrne posted, alongside a photo of he and Oats and a link to the Crimson Tide's NIL collective, Yea-Alabama:

A Nate Oats-Alabama contract extension appears to be on the horizon

An extension was not immediately announced, but it feels imminent based on Byrne's post.

Oats signed a contract extension two years ago, right before Alabama's run to the Final Four. That extension included a hefty buyout, but that buyout is scheduled to drop from $18 million to $10 million on April 1st. That's part of the urgency to get another deal done that likely includes an increased buyout number once again.

It also wouldn't be surprising if Oats asked for - and was granted - more money for roster building in this potential extension, too.

Oats was candid about Alabama's need to "be competitive" with offers to top prospects in the aftermath of missing out on 5-star SG Caleb Holt. He also spoke about having conversations with the administration that were productive on that front.

In any case, it sounds like good news is on the horizon for Alabama fans with Oats sticking around for a while longer.
