We're about to find out what this Alabama baseball team is made of. The Crimson Tide ran through their non-conference slate with an impressive 17-1 record. Led by the power bats of Justin Lebron and Will Hodo, Alabama opened the season 16-0 before dropping a game to Presbyterian on Sunday.

Alabama rebounded from its first loss of the season to beat UAB 6-3 in Birmingham on Tuesday.

The big question for Rob Vaughn's club is if they have enough pitching to be true contenders in a brutally tough SEC. This weekend's series in College Station against Texas A&M will tell us a lot about this team and if they are truly in the upper echelon of teams in the conference.

Texas A&M opened the year with national title aspirations, but they've had a disappointing start to the season and sit at just 10-6 through 16 games. Conversely, their pitching staff has been more than good enough, and they'll be hoping to get their offense on track to open SEC play.

Vaughn will be sending his normal weekend rotation out there this weekend. Zane Adams will start on Friday, Riley Quick gets the ball on Saturday, and then Bobby Alcock will look to bounce back after getting roughed up last Sunday.

Texas A&M will give the ball to Ryan Prager on Friday, Justin Lamkin on Saturday, and Myles Patton on Sunday. All three have ERAs of 2.28 or better. Prager has been practically unhittable so far this season. He's given up one earned run in 23.1 innings pitched.

Alabama's offense has lit up almost everyone, but this will be their first taste of SEC pitching in 2025. Will the hot bats continue, or will the uptick in competition bring things to a grinding halt?
