Before heading to Jacksonville, Florida to play in the Jacksonville Classic this weekend, Alabama baseball has a couple of warm-up games in the middle of the week in Tuscaloosa. The Jacksonville Classic will bring the first measuring stick matchups for the Crimson Tide with games against Coastal Carolina, NC State, and Ohio State.
Rob Vaughn's second team in Tuscaloosa got off to a good start with a dominant three-game sweep of Bradley to open the season. Led by star shortstop Justin Lebron and Miami transfer Jason Torres, Alabama's bats were overwhelming as the Tide plated 40 runs over the three-game series.
Alabama will hope to win both of its mid-week matchups and head to Jacksonville with a 5-0 record.
On Tuesday, Alabama takes on Middle Tennessee State before facing Alabama State on Wednesday. The Blue Raiders are off to a 1-2 start - they dropped a three-game series at home to Bowling Green last weekend. The Hornets dropped three of four to Southern Indiana in Montgomery to open their season.
These are two games the Crimson Tide should win, serving as effective warm-up games before the real season begins this coming weekend.
