Alabama basketball plays its second game of the season on Friday night back at home in Coleman Coliseum against Arkansas State. The Crimson Tide comes in at 1-0 following a blowout win over UNC Asheville on Monday night.
The Red Wolves also enter the game 1-0 following a season opening win over Akron. Arkansas State is coached by former Nate Oats assistant Bryan Hodgson. This is Hodgson's second season as a head coach after leading his team to a 4th place finish in the Sun Belt in year one. Arkansas State upset top-seeded Appalachian State in the Sun Belt tournament before losing to James Madison in the conference championship.
Arkansas State plays a similar style to Alabama. They will push the pace and put up a lot of shots from deep. Oats has a lot of respect for Hodgson and this Red Wolves team. Oats said on Thursday "if we play bad, we're gonna lose."
