From the get-go, Alabama football fans aren’t strangers to seeing elite wide receivers play as youngsters when they first put on a Crimson Tide uniform. I mean, if you need a refresher course, take a look back through the years at how studs like Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, and Calvin Ridley immediately made their presence felt, or more recently, how Ryan Williams and Lotzeir Brooks popped onto the field and turned heads with their big-play ability and game-changing speed.

Now, in 2026, Cederian Morgan says he's up for the challenge, with serious intentions of writing the next chapter in Alabama’s growing tradition of true freshman wideouts who broke out to become playmakers in year one.

"They're gonna see me going off, making plays 1-on-1's, and even getting us some points on the board," Morgan told reporters when recently asked what Alabama fans can expect out of him during his first season in Tuscaloosa.

If you've watched Morgan for the past two seasons at Benjamin Russell High, then you know that the kid isn't just talking. The Alexander City, AL, 4-star early enrollee definitely has the game to translate at the next level after racking up over 2,200 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns, while earning All-State honors and the attention of programs nationwide.

At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, his knack for making big plays in critical moments has already earned him a reputation as a clutch performer.

Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Grubb have already raved about Cederian Morgan

Morgan is truly everything Kalen DeBoer and his Alabama offensive coaching staff could want in a big body WR. He displays the size of a true matchup nightmare with the agility and soft hands that allow him to separate from defenses downfield. His ability to box out defenders in the blocking game and haul in contested catches gives the Crimson Tide a new dimension in their passing game that opposing defenses will have to account for immediately.

This is almost for certain after hearing the excitement stemming from his play-caller in second-year offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb when he spoke in awe of Morgan and his roommate, 5-star running back EJ Crowell, earlier this month to reporters at the ALFCA convention.

“Wow,” Grubb told WAKA Action 8 News. “They’re already here on campus back in Tuscaloosa, but really, there are a lot of physical characteristics that both of them have. They’re outstanding players, but the maturity and the mindset that those two guys have already at this point in their career have been really impressive. So, I’m excited to see what they can do this year. They’re not gonna have to wait long to get on the field."

These sentiments should feel every bit of refreshing to Crimson Tide fans, to say the least, especially being a couple of weeks removed from seeing Alabama take their lumps when missing out on Ex-Auburn WR Cam Coleman and losing Isaiah Horton, when both big body wideouts decided to leave the state of Alabama for Texas programs via the Transfer Portal. Now, with both of these dominoes falling how they fell, Morgan is in a prime position to step up during his true freshman campaign and make good on his word. If he can successfully do so, then his play has the potential to help restore the feeling on offense in Tuscaloosa this fall.
