There are three players who went out during last week’s matchup with LSU that Alabama fans should keep an eye on against the Bears. One is a sure no go but the other two are expected to contribute.
Alabama Injury Report
Probable: None
Questionable: OL Jaden Roberts, HUSKY DeVonta Smith
Out: WR Cole Adams, DB Keon Sabb, WOLF Que Robinson
Overview
New additions to the list are in italics. Cole Adams and Keon Sabb are the only mainstays from last week’s game against LSU for more information on them (Click here) . As mentioned above, there isn’t an official injury report for this week. The guys added to the list this week are largely based on observation. Of the three new names, only the wolf Que Robinson seems expected to miss time.
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said in Monday’s press conference “With Que’s injury, it’s certainly been determined now that he would be out for the remainder of the year.”
For offensive lineman Jaden Roberts and husky DeVonta Smith, the report has been largely positive and it seems both will at least be able to contribute in Saturday’s game. With that in mind, Robinson will be the only one to receive a breakdown since he is the only one sure to miss.
Que Robinson
The loss of Que Robinson is a blow to an Alabama defense that was finally starting to find its footing. Robinson is a vocal leader on the field for the Crimson Tide and one of the team’s primary pass rushers. Robinson’s four sacks this season tie him for the team lead and his 23 tackles make him a steady contributor.
Robinson this season has rushed on 110 of 146 passing snaps he has been on the field for this season, and according to ProFootballFocus, he was the Crimson Tide’s best rusher by a wide margin. For the PFF pass-rush grades, Robinson was graded at 91.2 out of 100, Alabama’s next closest graded rusher is LT Overton, who grades in at 78.7. In total, Robinson has produced 20 total pressures with four sacks, six hits, and 10 hurries. His six hits lead the team and Robinson is one of only two pass rushers with 10+ hurries on the year.
Robinson has also played 36 snaps in pass coverage this year, where he has been no slouch. He has yet to be targeted or allowed a catch this season and has been a part of 3 tackles in the passing game. Keep in mind not being targeted doesn’t necessarily mean he’s played poorly or hasn’t contributed in the pass defense, in fact, a guy with 36 snaps and not a single throw his way is probably decent in pass coverage. PFF agrees, ranking him 6th among Alabama defenders in coverage this season.
Where Robinson has been quiet this season has been the running game. In 100 rushing snaps played, Robinson has only recorded 11 tackles with four assists.
The Bears are a team that likes to run the ball, they average 177.2 yards per game on the season and 17 touchdowns. The loss of Robinson won’t be as felt but going forward Alabama will certainly miss one of their best pass rushers.
