Why would an Alabama Crimson Tide fan want to vocally support Hugh Freeze? The simple reason is Auburn fans want Freeze fired and what is best for Alabama Football is for Freeze to coach Auburn for many more seasons.

After Saturday's home loss to Vanderbilt, Freeze claimed not to have heard boos directed his way. Multiple reports claim there were boos from Auburn fans and they were not directed at Auburn players or the game officials. The likely target must have been Freeze.

Message boards and social media have been flooded with 'Fire Freeze' demands from Auburn fans. The tweet below argues for a bold remedy. The course of action may be embraced by many Auburn fans.

Alabama Crimson Tide fans cannot sit idly by while a Freeze firing happens. At least one Alabama fan agrees with me. Lisa Rawls tweeted "Please @AuburnFootball keep Hugh Freeze as HC. Please give him chance after chance, this season and beyond. Thank you in advance."

Not only do I agree with Lisa; I'll remind readers that I have lobbied for the last three Auburn head coaches not to be fired. Hugh Freeze is No. 4. I lobbied for Auburn to give Gus Malzahn a lifetime contract and did the same for Freeze early in the 2024 season.

At this point, Alabama football fans will be lucky if Auburn delays firing Freeze until after the 2025 season. The Auburn fans who want him gone now are correct that Auburn's future will only worsen under Freeze. He has been an outstanding recruiter for Auburn, but with another losing season ahead (it will be Auburn's fourth straight) the current No. 5-ranked 2025 commits will erode. Under Freeze, the 2026 class will dwindle to at best a good, but not game-changing, great class. In addition, Portal exits will be brutal for the Tigers.

The core problem many Auburn fans now realize is that Freeze is not a high-level coach. His two wins over Nick Saban, now almost a decade ago, included one fluke outcome. The tweet below describes a coach at the far opposite end of greatness.

As Southern Cal has been shown in the last two seasons, hype is no substitute for substance. Lincoln Riley is a failure at USC, but the Trojans have far more justification for optimism than the Auburn Tigers.

Alabama Crimson Tide fans hoping Freeze is retained

Amid the furor arguing for Freeze to be fired immediately, there is some hope for Alabama Crimson Tide fans.

If Freeze gets the axe this season, there would be some consolation for Alabama fans. The final nail struck might be an Iron Bowl loss in Tuscaloosa.
