Former Alabama QB Jalen Milroe made his preseason debut on Thursday night with the Seattle Seahawks, playing the entire second half of their preseason opener at home against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The third-round pick immediately flashed his immense potential, making some eye-opening plays with his legs and a few nice throws. His stat line wasn't super flashy, but it was solid all the way around: 6-of-10 passing, 61 yards. 3 rushes, 38 yards.

Milroe avoided any turnovers and didn't really put the ball in harm's way. That was his biggest Achilles' heel last season for Alabama. He threw 11 interceptions and fumbled nine times. You could see in his action last night that he's already made some steps in his development - he no longer looks to bail the pocket to the right; instead, he chooses to step up in the pocket and take off up the middle on scrambles.

Jalen Milroe's legs will get him on the field as a rookie for the Seahawks

While he had some good throws, it was his legs that were the star of the show, as expected.

This was the biggest play of the evening for Milroe, and a peek into the "Milroe package" that is being developed by the Seahawks coaching staff to take advantage of his athleticism during his rookie season. Even if the Seahawks choose to carry three quarterbacks, Milroe is likely to be active on gamedays and have a small package of plays as a change of pace.

On the above play, it's a simple read-option keeper, where Milroe takes it to the outside and turns on the burners. He races down the sideline for a gain of 27 yards. His speed is eye-opening. He looks noticeably faster than the other pro football players out there.

The Seahawks will start Sam Darnold this season, but the veteran QB can't do that. Milroe brings another dynamic to the Seattle offense, and they'll want to try and take full advantage of that.

As a passer, most of Milroe's throws were relatively basic, but he did make one impressive throw on the run on a bootleg to the right, delivering the ball to the receiver in a tight window in between three defenders:

Those are the types of passing opportunities Milroe will get this season in order to keep defenses honest when he's on the field. You can't have a Milroe package that is exclusively running plays, or they will get sniffed out. But move the pocket, get him on the run, and give him some run-pass options like that, and he'll make some plays.

All-in-all, it was a solid preseason debut for the former Crimson Tide quarterback. He'll be back on the field next Friday for Seattle's second preseason game at home against the Chiefs.
