Alabama is still looking for a few pieces to round out its 2027 recruiting class. It's a smaller, less expensive class than Kalen DeBoer has signed in the previous two cycles, but it has been well known that this would be a one-off where Alabama was more focused on retaining this season's roster. They believe the majority of next season's roster is already on campus.
Alabama will be back to being big spenders on the high school trail in 2028, where they currently have one of the top classes in the country already. For 2027, Alabama has just 14 total commitments, but they are in search of a few more for the right price.
A new name to know is 3-star defensive lineman Joshua Lane from Memphis, who picked up an Alabama offer on Tuesday:

Alabama offers Memphis commit, 3-star DL Joshua Lane
Lane is committed to his hometown Memphis Tigers, but how badly he wants to stay at home is getting tested. Alabama is the latest Power Four program to offer, but not the first. In the last week, Lane has picked up offers from Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Missouri, Mississippi State, and Iowa State. His recruitment is certainly on the rise.
Lane is 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds and will play on the interior at the next level. His hot start to his senior season has gotten him noticed by bigger programs. Per MaxPreps, Lane has produced five tackles-for-loss and two sacks in four games this year. The two sacks match his total in the last two seasons combined, and the five tackles-for-loss match his total in 10 games as a junior.
Mobile's AJ Pauley is the only interior defensive lineman that Alabama currently has a commitment for in the 2027 class. They also have two edge players, however, in Tyler Younger and Jeremiah Beverly.
Alabama signed a big class of defensive linemen in the 2026 cycle so that wasn't going to be an area of need in this class. They took a big swing on 4-star Mitchell Turner out of Mississippi, but Ole Miss ponied up to keep him home and to avoid allowing the Crimson Tide to poach the top defensive player in the state for a second year in a row (Nolan Wilson).
Alabama extended an offer last month to another Mississippi defensive lineman: Jeremiah Mark out of Picayune.
Next up for Alabama will be trying to get Lane on campus for a visit in the coming weeks.
Lane's senior tape is giving the Memphis commit a lot of options. He'll likely see even more now that Alabama has gotten involved.
