Heading into the summer official visit season, Kalen DeBoer and Alabama appear to be in really good shape for one of their top targets along the defensive line in the 2027 class.

4-star Louisville, Mississippi native Mitchell Turner, the No. 7 DL and No. 78 overall player in the 247 composite, has been predicted to land with the Crimson Tide by Bama247's Brett Greenberg.

That prediction comes as little surprise, as Alabama has been seen as the frontrunner for Turner for quite some time.

Turner is considering Alabama, home-state schools Mississippi State and Ole Miss, along with Texas. He has official visits planned for this summer with all four, and is currently slated to make his first official of the cycle to Tuscaloosa on May 29th. DeBoer and staff will hope to lock him down to the point that he cancels the other three.

Obvious parralels between Mitchell Turner and Nolan Wilson's recruitments for Alabama

One of Alabama's top signings in the 2026 high school class was Picayune, Mississippi's Nolan Wilson. Despite a furious charge by many schools, Alabama won out for Wilson because they believed in him before anyone else.

Alabama was the first school to offer Wilson, a fact that he highlighted numerous times during his recruitment. That early belief is what brought them over the finish line with the 4-star prospect.

That same early evaluation could be what leads Turner to Tuscaloosa, too.

Alabama wasn't the first school to offer him, but they were the first Power Four program to offer the Magnolia State native. The Crimson Tide offered Turner in December, following a dominant junior season that saw him rack up 15.5 sacks.

Alabama's offer lit the fuse and ignited offers from all around the country. His recruitment has blown up since then, but he's still had the Crimson Tide top of mind.

The early evaluation and belief paid major dividends in the recruitment of Wilson last year. It looks like lightning may strike twice in Mississippi for DeBoer.
