Kalen DeBoer has reeled in consecutive top-five recruiting classes for Alabama in the high school ranks, and has the Crimson Tide in a strong early position to do it for a third straight cycle in 2027.
Alabama currently holds the No. 12 class in the composite rankings for 2027 with four commitments, but it is trending for some elite recruits that would quickly bolster that position. And we know from the last two cycles how big the summer recruiting run is likely to be.
One of the top names on Alabama's board is 4-star EDGE KJ Green from Stone Mountain, Georgia. He's a consensus 4-star recruit, with 247 higher on him than others. 247 ranks Green as a Top 10 prospect in the 2027 class. He's coveted by a ton of programs.
With seven months to go until his scheduled commitment in early August, Green's recruitment runs through Tuscaloosa.
Green recently told Touchdown Alabama Magazine that the Crimson Tide was No. 1 in his recruitment. That came just a day after Green told 247 Sports that Alabama was the "top of the top" for him.

DeBoer has found instant success recruiting the state of Georgia. Alabama signed three of the top six players in the state of Georgia in the 2026 cycle, according to the 247 composite rankings (Xavier Griffin, Jorden Edmonds, and Jamarion Matthews).
Alabama also landed coveted Georgia recruits in Jared Doughty, Chris Booker, and Bear Fretwell in the 2026 class.
That came a year after landing Duke Johnson, Marshall Pritchett, and Luke Metz in the 2025 class.
Out of Alabama's four commitments in the 2027 class so far, one of them (3-star CB Nash Johnson) hails from the Peach State.
Green's primary recruiter is OLB coach Christian Robinson, so Alabama views him as a Wolf LB in Kane Wommack's defense. That position will be a primary focus in the 2027 class, with the 2026 season likely the final one for Yhonzae Pierre in Tuscaloosa, and rising sophomore Justin Hill as the only other true Wolf on the roster.
An opportunity for early playing time could be a big feather in Alabama's cap down the stretch of Green's recruitment.
