While Kalen DeBoer and Alabama still haven't nailed down their QB for the 2026 class, that won't stop them from looking forward to 2027 and identifying their guy early.

That guy could be 4-star Trent Seaborn, one of the most popular high school players in the state of Alabama. The rising high school junior has been starting for powerhouse Thompson High School in Alabaster since the 8th grade. He's led his team to two state championships and thrown for 6453 yards and 68 touchdowns. When his illustrious high school career comes to a close, he'll be one of the most decorated players in the history of the state.

His career might continue right down the road in Tuscaloosa.

Seaborn previously held an offer from Alabama when it was the Nick Saban staff. On Friday, he earned a re-offer from the DeBoer staff, becoming the third 2027 QB the Crimson Tide have offered.

This is an offer Seaborn has been waiting on. He is a highly sought after QB in his class, holding 33 offers, including Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, and Tennessee, among others.

Seaborn is the third offer from this staff in the 2027 class, joining fellow 4-stars Trae Taylor and Colton Nussmeier.

What Alabama does in the 2027 QB class will largely depend on what happens in 2026

More important than who Alabama ends up with in the 2027 class is who they ultimately bring on board in the 2026 class. The Crimson Tide is still QB-less in this cycle. Alabama is currently focused on three prospects: Jett Thomalla, Matt Ponatoski, and the recently offered Tayden Kaawa.

Alabama would love to take two QBs in this class with only three QBs on the current roster and the potential for only one to be left standing heading into next year.

Thomalla is currently committed to Iowa State, but is said to be deciding whether he wants to take an official to Tuscaloosa to potentially flip. Ponatoski is a bit of a wildcard with his potential baseball career. He plans to play both sports in college, and could ultimately skip college altogether if he gets taken high enough in the 2026 MLB Draft.

If Alabama only signs one in this class, they could aggressively pursue two QBs in 2027. Along with Seaborn, there's another highly ranked in-state QB who could factor into the team's plans. 4-star Gunner Rivers, son of NFL legend Philip Rivers, has yet to earn an offer from Alabama, but that could change.

DeBoer, OC Ryan Grubb, and QB coach Nick Sheridan have proven to be good at evaluating QBs. They identified Keelon Russell in last year's cycle before he blew up and became the No. 2 overall player in the 2025 class.
