Kicking off what should be a productive week on the recruiting trail for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama, the Crimson Tide landed a commitment on Tuesday from a high-upside EDGE rusher.
Norcross, Georgia native Tyler Younger committed to Alabama, choosing the Tide over Rutgers and UCF. Younger took his official visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend, just a week after earning an offer from the Crimson Tide after a standout performance at a camp in front of the coaching staff.

3-star EDGE Tyler Younger commits to Alabama
Younger is rated as a 3-star recruit and the No. 629 overall player in the composite, but it's not difficult to see the vision based on his size and raw ability.
Younger is just shy of 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds. He could play the Wolf LB position for the Crimson Tide, but based on his frame, it's easy to see him growing into a Bandit DE in Kane Wommack's defensive system.
Younger will be a project for Alabama, but he's a player who, after a couple of years in a college strength and conditioning program and with proper coaching, could turn into a productive player in the SEC. He's exactly the type of upside swing you want to take nowadays.
It's a different world of recruiting. There are 105 scholarship spots available now, up from 85 just a few years ago. Not even the teams with the biggest pockets can afford to fund 105 roster spots with NIL/revenue-sharing.
So you have to take some swings at prospects like Younger who have flown under the radar but have every physical ability to develop into a quality player at the next level. Alabama is doing a lot of that this cycle, perhaps to the frustration of some fans who are hoping for bigger splashes in the high school class.
But this was always going to be a smaller class, and Alabama wasn't going to break the bank in filling it out. The Tide spent a lot on the 2025 and 2026 cycles, and their top priority will be to retain those players into the 2027 season.
Younger is a quality addition, regardless, and earned his offer from Alabama after an in-person evaluation. This staff has proven their ability to evaluate prospects. Younger is the latest in a line of quality evals.
