Commitment No. 6 for Kalen DeBeor and Alabama in the 2027 recruiting class is a big one.

4-star LB Kenneth Simon II, the son of former Tennessee LB Kevin Simon, committed to Alabama on Monday, choosing the Crimson Tide over the Vols and Georgia.

Simon had been trending to the Crimson Tide for the last couple of weeks, and the staff got to the finish line to land one of the top linebackers in the country.

The Brentwood, Tennessee native represents a massive win on the trail for DeBoer and could be the springboard for Alabama's annual summer recruiting run.

Alabama is beginning to build significant momentum on the trail as official visit season gets started in earnest. A couple of weeks ago, 5-star QB Elijah Haven joined the Tide's class in the biggest commitment to date.

Simon may not carry that 5-star pedigree, but with his ties to Knoxville, it's another moment where DeBoer flashed his recruiting chops for all those who have doubted them since he arrived in Tuscaloosa from the West Coast.

In Simon, the fit in Kane Wommack's defense is obvious. He's a former safety who has the speed and coverage skills to be a versatile chess piece in the Alabama defensive system. At 6-foot-2, he has the size to add significant weight to his 210-pound frame. There should be no real fear of that not happening once he gets into a college strength and conditioning program.

Simon is a proven winner, helping lead his high school team to the State Championship last season.

Simon appears immediately locked in with the Crimson Tide following his commitment, though that won't stop Tennessee and Georgia (and likely others) from trying to sway him between now and December's early signing period.

After his commitment, Simon only plans on using one official visit this summer, and that will be to Alabama. He's locked in with the Crimson Tide.

Simon is a consensus 4-star recruit and ranked as the No. 6 player in the state of Tennessee in 2027. He's Alabama's sixth commitment in this class, and the second on the defensive side of the ball. He joins 3-star DL AJ Pauley, who committed to Alabama during A-Day weekend.
