Now what? That's what Alabama football fans must be thinking right now after the Crimson Tide shockingly lost their season-opener 31-17 to Florida State. The Tide had won 23 consecutive Week 1 contests, but that impressive streak is now over.
As you might have been able to guess, the attention has now turned to Kalen DeBoer. Plain and simple, this was the last thing that he needed, especially after such a disappointing debut campaign in Tuscaloosa. Alabama fans had lost patience and now they're even more furious with him after Saturday's loss. After the game, DeBoer has even more people upset with his response to the disappointing performance:
Kalen DeBoer: "I choose to believe we've got a good football team, but we can't play on our hands. We're not gonna be who we think we can be, what we want to be, if that's the case."

"Last year isn't this year. It's going to be an uphill climb."
Alabama football fans have just about had it with Kalen DeBoer as head coach
Seriously? Read the room, coach. The vibes surrounding Alabama this summer were fantastic. Despite the rough showing in 2024, the Tide entered the new year as the No. 8 team in the country and plenty of people thought a dominant win over the Seminoles would be recorded.
Remember when Thomas Castellanos talked his smack and Alabama players said there would be consequences for those words? Instead of Alabama making him look silly, the Boston College transfer had a showing to remember and he fully backed his trash talk.
Losing is one thing, but Florida State dominated this one from start to finish. Ty Simpson had some decent moments, but he was also shaky, with the offensive line not doing him any favors either. Also, what in the world was the deal with all of the penalties?
Alabama supporters are never going to accept things when the Tide are not mentally prepared for a game. There were way too many bone-headed mistakes in this Week 1 loss - that's on DeBoer and his coaching staff for not having them focused.
The energy at Doak Campbell Stadium was off the charts, but there are no excuses for Alabama in this one. There are of course no excuses for DeBoer either. In games that Alabama has been favored by at least 14 points during his time leading Bama, he's now 4-4. That's unreal. He's got to find a way to turn things around and fast. Otherwise, he may not make it to November.
