Most college football freshmen wide receivers at any level need time to get their feet wet before making a true impact in their respective offenses. But for Alabama early enrollee Cederian Morgan, he seems to already be positioning himself for an early role.
Morgan comes to Tuscaloosa after an impressive career at Benjamin Russell High School, where he exploded for 82 catches, 1,400 yards, and 16 touchdowns in his senior campaign. The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder first popped onto the scene in the eyes of Kalen DeBoer and countless other coaches around the country the fall before as a junior prospect when reeling in 70 receptions for 1,162 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was a consensus 4-star recruit in the 2026 recruiting class, and it became obvious to DeBoer why as soon as he stepped onto the practice field.
“I did get a chance to see him a little bit more, just because he was practicing with us before we went on our bowl games and our playoff games,” DeBoer said. “Really impressed with him, moves extremely well, very fluid, big hands, catches the ball, very strong at the point of attack with the ball. I know a lot of guys, players included, were impressed with what they saw just in a couple of practices that he was with us.”
One of those players who came away impressed was former senior WR Germie Bernard. Bernard himself had no problems making this known to reporters back then when speaking on the in-state product.
“He is going to be a good player,” Bernard said. “He’s a big wide receiver. He listens very well. He takes coaching. It’s exciting to see a guy like that come here early. It really helped me in the long run, and I think it’s gonna help him elevate him more, elevate his game.”
Cederian Morgan has a big opportunity to earn early playing time at Alabama
Hearing these reviews, while marveling at Morgan's size and production at the high school level, is definitely something all Alabama fans can get excited about.
Especially when all signs point to Morgan having a legit shot at being an early contributor in Alabama's offense after seeing Bernard take his talents to the 2026 NFL Draft, then seeing former Alabama fan favorite WR in 6-foot-4, 215-pounder Isaiah Horton, along with three other rotational depth players at the position, find new homes this past January through the Transfer Portal.
With these dominos falling how they fell, and the Crimson Tide only returning Ryan Williams, Lotzeir Brooks, Rico Scott, Derek Meadows, and MJ Chirgwin, along with adding NC state transfer Noah Rodgers, plus fellow 2026 signees Maurice Mathis Jr and Aubrey Walker, it'll be interesting to see just how quickly Morgan continues to get up to speed this offseason before Alabama kicks off their season against Eastern Carolina on September 5th.
