There were a lot of people who didn't believe Alabama would walk away with the win against the Oklahoma Sooners in the first round of the College Football Playoff. After they got down 17-0, it seemed like those people were going to be right, but the Crimson Tide came roaring back to not only erase that deficit but also win the game.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer sat down with former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer on his podcast "The Triple Option" and talked about the win over the Sooners. Meyer brought up that Alabama had truly been punched as hard as they could in the face with that deficit, but his team came back, and that is something that is truly priceless.

DeBoer knows how special it was that his team came back from their deficit. The Tide is able to take that win and know they did it together; it wasn't something they just lucked into.

"Now that we've won, it's one of those program things that you know we've done together," DeBoer said.

There are always great moments throughout a season, big wins, and even close ones that a team is able to close out, but to come back from such a large deficit so early on is something that isn't easy. This team went through it together, and DeBoer knows that doing that in the first round can help set up his team going forward.

"We gotta remember that one not just down the road in the offseason, but right now," DeBoer said. "In the moments we are in, facing these great teams that are coming ahead, we're going to take more punches at times."

Alabama now knows, though, that it can take those punches and still come out on the other side on top. The Tide will face Indiana in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day for the Quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff.
