Fresh off a gritty home win over No. 13 Ole Miss on Thursday, Alabama women's basketball gave that win right back by going on the road and falling to a Texas A&M team on Sunday that came into the game just 1-8 in SEC play.

The Crimson Tide allowed 17 offensive rebounds and consistently put the Aggies on the foul line. A&M shot 31 free throws to just 15 for Alabama. That helped the Aggies overcome shooting just 38% from the floor, and Alabama's 8-of-17 from three-point range was ultimately wasted.

It's the second road conference loss to an inferior opponent that Kristy Curry's team has taken this year. Last month, Alabama went on the road and lost by four to rival Auburn, a Tigers team that, like Texas A&M, has only won two conference games this year.

Curry thought she had gotten through to her team after the Auburn loss, and was left dumbfounded in the aftermath of Sunday's 72-69 loss.

"I just have no words," Curry said. "We had an experience like this a couple weeks ago and felt like we had talked and done things differently with our travel plan to get their attention on a quick turnaround from Thursday. At some point, players have to understand and have self-awareness."

Curry didn't bite her tongue in the aftermath, questioning her team's self-awareness after losing to an inferior opponent.

The loss dropped Alabama to 20-5 overall and 6-5 in SEC play. They are still comfortably in the projected NCAA Tournament field yet again, but a road loss to a team below .500 overall is the type of loss that will drop you an entire seed line.

ESPN's last bracketology update was on Friday, and the Crimson Tide was on the 6-seed line. It'll be interesting to see where they fall after this loss.

It's even more damaging considering what lies ahead for this team.

Alabama has five regular-season games left, four of which are against teams ranked 11th or better in the last AP Poll. The only unranked team remaining on the schedule is Florida, but that game is in Gainesville.
