The Alabama Crimson Tide road win over Tennessee was the eighth Quad 1 win for Nate Oats' team. According to the only 'Quad' calculation that matters, the NCAA NET rankings, only four teams have more Quad 1 wins than the Crimson Tide: Florida. Arizona, Michigan, and Duke.

The NET rankings have the Crimson Tide at No. 15. Ken Pomeroy's model has Alabama at No. 14. Bart Torvik has Alabama at No. 17, and Kevin Paugh's KPI has Bama at No. 9. ESPN's BPI has the Crimson Tide at No. 14. According to the BPI model, Alabama's Strength of Record (SOR) is up to No. 7, and its Strength of Schedule (SOS) is No. 1.

Joe Lunardi's late Saturday bracket update kept Alabama as a Big Dance 4-seed. Bart Torvik's bracket projection also has Alabama as a 4-seed and No. 14 on the seed line. Torvik's model gives the Crimson Tide a 53.3% probability of advancing to the Sweet Sixteen and a 22% probability of reaching the Elite Eight.

The machine learning source AMSTS has the Crimson Tide as a 4-seed playing in the same region as UConn, Houston, and Nebraska. Alabama would open the Big Dance in Tampa against UNC-Wilmington and play the winner of Arkansas vs. Belmont.

Other SEC Basketball Bracketology

When the Bracket Matrix is updated to include the games of Feb. 28, this post will be updated with seeding projections. For now, the seedings below are provided by Bart Torvik's T-Ranketology.

  • Florida Gators are a 2-seed and No. 5 on the seed line
  • Alabama Crimson Tide are a 4-seed and No. 9 in Wins Above Bubble (WAB)
  • Vanderbilt Commodores, Arkansas Razorbacks and Tennessee Vols are 5-seeds
  • Kentucky Wildcats are a 6-seed
  • Georgia Bulldogs are an 8-seed
  • Texas Longhorns are a 9-seed
  • Missouri Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies are 10-seeds

On Torvik's list of 'Teams Out' of the Big Dance, Auburn is No. 7. The Tigers are given a 13.8% chance of a recovery that would result in an NCAA Tournament bid.

For SEC Tournament seeding, Alabama has gained a double-bye and needs one more win to lock down the 2-seed in Nashville.
