LSU knew exactly what it was getting with Will Wade, the most hated coach in college basketball

Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats got an early start on distaste for Will Wade. After the Crimson Tide beat LSU 90-79 to win the 2021 SEC Basketball Tournament, Oats yelled at Wade to get off the court. Oats used more than a mild expletive.

Strong words of anger are being aimed at Will Wade again. He has earned every one of them.

Wade has added former St. John's player RJ Luis Jr. to the LSU roster. The addition is in blatant disregard for NCAA rules.

Luis Jr. was drafted by the NBA and signed two two-way contracts, making him clearly ineligible for a return to college. In a state not firmly attached to the rule of law, LSU will likely receive a favorable judicial ruling allowing Luis Jr. to play. The NCAA will appeal and possibly win. If the NCAA loses an appeal, the state of Louisiana will have a new professional basketball team. Critics claim such a result would change (and damage) college basketball forever.

Will Wade does not care about damage. He doesn't care how many coaches and college basketball experts call him out, as Jeff Goodman did, "You’re being an idiot asshole for the sake of being an idiot asshole. What you’re doing is (xxxxing) it up for everyone else."

Wade is also looking to add another professional player. Eurohoops reported that LSU is offering $5 million to add 25-year-old Yam Madar. Madar plays for Hapoel Tel Aviv. The NCAA might rule Madar as ineligible as well. Another professional, Italian pro Saliou Niang has committed to the Bengal Tigers.

The Will Wade plan is obvious

Kevin Sweeney explained Wade's scheme, "Been clear for a bit: Will Wade intends to build the closest thing to a professional basketball team CBB has seen, and seriously push bounds of NCAA rules in the process."

The many negative responses from fans include "Congrats to Will Wade for being the biggest piece of trash in college athletics", "The NCAA must step in and enforce its own rules – ban LSU from post season play in 2026-27", and "The SEC should just refuse to play LSU."

Will Wade does not care what others think. He appears to relish being viewed as a demon. LSU knew that before the Bengal Tigers hired him again. Obviously, personal integrity was not a job requirement.
