5-star SG Caleb Holt is the top target on Alabama's 2026 recruiting board. He had been planning an official visit to Tuscaloosa in October, but that visit just got bumped up. Instead, Holt will now take his official visit to Alabama this weekend, per 247's Brett Greenberg:
NEWS: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Caleb Holt has moved his Alabama official visit up to this weekend (Sept. 12-14), he tells me for @Bama_247

No. 1 SG in the country — originally from Huntsville (Ala.) — had planned to return for the trip in October.
Notable.

Holt is an Alabama native and has been at the top of the board in 2026 for Oats and his staff for several years now. Per the 247 composite, Holt is the No. 3 overall player in this recruiting class.
Here's what 247's director of scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote about Holt back in July:
"Holt is physically imposing on the perimeter with a terrific combination of length, strength, athleticism, speed, and a wealth of intangibles. He’s competitive, plays hard, and imposes his will on both ends of the floor. He also has good perimeter size at 6-foot-5-plus with a 6-foot-9 wingspan.Adam Finkelstein
He’s a downhill attacker who plays through contact, has decisive burst on his way to the rim, and is an efficient finisher with both hands (68% at the rim in 3SSB play). He came up the ranks as a natural wing, but is working to evolve into more of a true guard. His ball-screen reads have started to improve (2.8 assists vs. 1.8 turnovers) as too has his handle, although still less comfortable in the open court with his left. His shooting may be his biggest swing skill. He has a wide-base and notable dip in his left shoulder, but there’s nonetheless been definite growth. The biggest issue is that he hunts them a little too much, presumably in an attempt to show his improvements, instead of getting downhill at every opportunity (29% 3pt and 82% FT).
Defensively, he can be a true standout, utilizing his physical tools to make plays, guard multiple positions, and then rising up for rebounds (7.4 per game). He has great anticipation in passing lanes (2.5 steals) and has an advanced understanding of how to be physical on the ball while simultaneously showing his hands.
The bottom line is that Holt is one of the most consistently impactful players in high school basketball and has the mentality and physical tools to have a high long-term floor. His ceiling will be dictated by the continued progression of his guard skills, along with his ability to maintain his efficiency while stretching his game."
Most have assumed Holt's recruitment was likely to come down to Alabama and Auburn, but he has offers from pretty much every program in the country. Everyone wants him, and he's likely to draw massive NIL offers.
Oats and Alabama have the hot hand on the recruiting trail right now. On Monday, they landed a commitment from 4-star wing Chris Washington Jr. A few hours later, they landed a crystal ball prediction in favor of 4-star wing Tarris Bouie.
A big recruiting weekend for Nate Oats just got even bigger
This weekend was already going to be a big one for Oats, assistant Preston Murphy, and the rest of the staff. Two other 5-stars are on the schedule to be in Tuscaloosa this weekend in point guard Derron Rippey Jr. and wing Jaxon Richardson.
Oats has consistently recruited at a high level since arriving at Alabama, but he appears to be taking it up another notch this cycle. If things break the way they are beginning to trend, then not only will the Tide's 2026 haul be elite, it might just be the top overall high school class in the country.
Oats has not put all of his eggs in any one basket - he has Alabama involved with a number of the top prospects in the country.
Holt is the most coveted of all, and Oats and Murphy will hope their penchant for knocking official visits out of the park will carry over to this all-important weekend.
