Nate Oats isn't done making additions to the Alabama frontcourt.
Even after landing commitments from SEC-experienced bigs in Brandon Garrison (Kentucky) and Jamarion Davis-Fleming (Mississippi State), Oats and Preston Muprhy are still on the search for help on the interior.
While all the talk has surrounded Syracuse transfer Donnie Freeman, who Alabama flew to and visited earlier in the week, Oats isn't putting all his eggs in one basket. Instead, per Jon Rothstein, Alabama will host a visit this weekend with Boise State forward/center Drew Fielder, a 6-foot-11, 225-pound stretch big who would perfectly complement what the Crimson Tide has already added to the frontcourt.

Averaged 14.7 PPG and shot 40.9% from three-point range last season.
Alabama hosting Boise State star big man Drew Fielder this wekeend
Oats is relentlessly trying to get Alabama bigger across the roster this offseason. Fielder would fit the mold at 6-foot-11, and would likely slot into a similar role to what Grant Nelson played for the Crimson Tide, though he's not as long and not as good a shot blocker.
But he's certainly a better shooter.
Fielder, who spent the first two years of his career at Georgetown, had a breakout season for Boise State as a junior. He averaged 14.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while knocking down 40.9% of his three-pointers on nearly three attempts per game.
Systemically, Fielder is a strong fit in Alabama's system due to his ability to stretch the floor and knock down shots. He's not the guy you'd want as your primary big, and he might see a lot less time at the five than Nelson did if he ultimately lands with the Crimson Tide, but putting him next to a rim protector like Garrison or Davis-Fleming, and you're good to go.
Fielder was a name we liked as a potential fit for the Crimson Tide as soon as the portal opened, but there was never any signal of interest on either end between Alabama and the Boise State transfer. Oats and Murphy typically move in silence as much as they can as they search for roster upgrades.
Alabama has two open roster spots as things stand, but that's before an NBA Draft decision for Amari Allen, and with the Transfer Portal open for a few more days, where some on the current roster could still choose to explore their options.
