Alabama QB Jalen Milroe is the most heavily scrutinized prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft class. All eyes were on Milroe in Mobile at the Senior Bowl a couple of weeks ago. Milroe had a chance to really make a statement and solidify his standing as a first-round pick in April's draft. Instead, Milroe struggled, as quarterbacks often do at the Senior Bowl.
His accuracy in the short and intermediate windows was questionable; he struggled with turnover-worthy plays; and his hand size was concerning and a potential window into why he has struggled with fumbling the football.
The talent is undeniable, though, and some in attendance were wowed by his big arm and his deep-ball accuracy.
Milroe entered the Senior Bowl with a big range of where he might be selected in the draft. Some had him in the Top 5; others didn't include him in their first-round projections.
The NFL Network's Chad Reuter released a post-Super Bowl three-round Mock Draft and it gives us the first insight into Milroe's draft stock in the aftermath of his performance in Mobile.
Reuter does not see Milroe being selected in the first round and has the former Crimson Tide signal-caller falling all the way to pick No. 52 where his wait ends with a phone call from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers have been a popular landing spot for Milroe in mock drafts. Pittsburgh started two different quarterbacks in 2024 - Russell Wilson and Justin Fields - and both are impending free agents this offseason. Pittsburgh will undoubtedly resign one or both, or perhaps identify another veteran in free agency to bridge the gap. But unless Pittsburgh thinks Fields can be the future at the position, which seems unlikely, you have to believe they will draft a QB this year. They've got a good enough roster that they can be patient while Milroe sits and develops.
Two other Alabama players in Reuter's Mock Draft
Reuter has two other Alabama players being selected in his mock, both of whom are off the board during the first round.
OG Tyler Booker is the first Crimson Tide player off the board, being selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 17th overall pick. Reuter believes Booker would be a plug-and-play starter at LG for the Bengals next season.
Cincinnati has been linked to Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell as well with improvements needed for one of the league's worst defensive teams.
Reuter has Campbell coming off the board in the first round, too, going No. 25 overall to the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins hold the No. 13 pick in the 2025 draft, but Reuter has them trading back with the Texans in this scenario and acquiring some much-needed draft capital to do so. Miami needs help defensively and being able to move back 12 spots and still land a player of Campbell's caliber would be a coup for the Dolphins front office.
