No. 2 is good for the Alabama Crimson Tide, for now

With some work left to do, the Alabama Crimson Tide is poised to have an outstanding 2025 signing class.

As of Monday, Dec. 2, the average of the Alabama Crimson Tide 2025 class Team Rankings from the big three services is No. 2. 247Sports has Alabama as the No. 2 class, bookended by a No. 1 class in the On3 Industry Rankings and a No. 3 class according to Rivals.

There is no permanence in those rankings. Alabama football insiders are aware one of the Crimson Tide's 5-star commits is expected to choose a different program. It is believed Alabama set a NIL cap to land 5-star, Ty Haywood and other programs are offering more. Alabama has the resources to compete for top talent, but the Crimson Tide does not engage in bidding wars. The current favorite to land Haywood is Michigan. The Wolverines appear to be on track to outspend all other programs during this roster-building cycle. The flip of top prospect, QB Bryce Underwood, from LSU to Michigan is an example.

Alabama's current count for the 2025 class is 22 commits, including Haywood. At least 18 of the 21 are expected to not only sign early but also to enroll early. The 18 are led by 5-stars, Keelon Russell, Dijon Lee, and Jackson Lloyd. Another 5-star, Michael Carroll is not expected to enroll early.

Other than Haywood, Alabama does not expect other flips by current commits. The Crimson Tide is looking to make two or possibly flips from other programs. Recruiting experts are predicting 4-star wide receiver, Derek Meadows will flip from LSU to Alabama. Meadows is a Top 50 player, whose size (6'5", 200 lbs.) stands out. Alabama is rumored to be pushing Top 100, defensive back, Anquon Fegans to flip from Auburn; along with another Auburn defensive back commit, 4-star, Donovan Starr.

Wednesday's signing and flipping frenzy will be just one milestone in the Alabama Crimson Tide roster rebuild process. Alabama is expected to be quite active in the Transfer Portal over the next few or possibly several months.

Alabama Crimson Tide will finish ...

Alabama's 2025 class Team Ranking will drop from Haywood officially going elsewhere. Additions to the class may compensate for his loss and possibly push the Alabama Crimson Tide to a top-two class. The floor for the Crimson Tide is a top-five class, and likely a top-three class. Not bad for Kalen DeBoer's first Alabama signing class.
