National Signing Day will be uneventful for the Alabama Crimson Tide. There are no 2025 prospects that Alabama is expected to sign in the Feb. 5-7 late signing period.

No new Alabama football signees does not mean the Crimson Tide program will not be talked about. Whichever team lands 5-star offensive lineman, Ty Haywood will have stories written about Haywood de-committing from Alabama in January. It is almost guaranteed that none of the coverage will mention that Alabama stopped recruiting Haywood months earlier. Alabama football insiders explained that Haywood's 'people' named a price for the 5-star beyond what Alabama was willing to accept.

The Alabama Crimson Tide is far from being a poor program. Neither does it have pockets as deep as some others. Some of the others include Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, and Michigan.

This week, the small number of new signees will do little to change the current Team Rankings for the 2025 class. The Crimson Tide is No. 3, per On3 and No. 4, per 247Sports and Rivals.

Roster building for 2025 will continue for months. Another Transfer Portal will be open in April. Teams can add players at almost any time, as long as they can get them enrolled in classes for the fall term. One of the few rules left that the NCAA believes it can enforce is that a player cannot play for multiple teams in the same season.

Alabama is expected to have more outgoing transfers before the season. While rosters have been allowed to expand above the old 85-player scholarship limit, the SEC has held to that number for the 2025 season. The Crimson Tide has some position needs on both sides of the line of scrimmage and is expected to add more transfers.

Alabama Crimson Tide Transfer Class

So far, the Tide's Transfer Class is small but Kalen DeBoer and his staff have done a good job filling needs. Transfer class rankings have Alabama at No. 47 in the FBS and No. 11 among SEC teams. Grant Hughes, writing for 247Sports provided a different perspective. Hughes graded the 16 SEC football transfer classes and Alabama was given a B+, the fifth-highest in the SEC. Kentucky was slightly higher with an A-. The top three grades went to LSU (A+), Ole Miss (A), and Auburn (A).

Nick Saban keeps saying he expects Auburn to be the SEC's most improved team next season. Alabama fans are quick to add Hugh Freeze's roster was so poor last season, that how could it not be improved?

A 2025 Transfer Class regrade in August would be more meaningful. Until then, Alabama fans can enjoy the Tennessee Vols getting a 'C' grade.
