Mac Jones did it again. With Brock Purdy still ailing, Mac Jones led the San Francisco 49ers to another victory on Sunday to go to 2-0 in his two starts with the team that passed on him four years ago.
Jones rebounded from a fourth-quarter interception to engineer a game-winning drive that resulted in a walk-off field goal as the Niners defeated the Arizona Cardinals 16-15.
Jones completed 27-of-41 passing for 284 yards and a touchdown. He completed several clutch throws, including a dime to Ricky Pearsall on a 4th-and-2 in the fourth quarter that kept a drive alive and ultimately ended in a Jones touchdown pass:

Jones will revert back to San Francisco's backup once Purdy is healthy enough to play, but he has more than proven his worth in the Bay Area. With Purdy's injury history, the 49ers wanted a proven option backing him up so another injury wouldn't completely derail the season. Mission accomplished with Jones, who continues to show that he's more than capable of being a starting NFL QB.
That's a fact that Alabama fans have known for a long time. People tried to downplay his incredible 2020 season because of the weapons he had around him in Tuscaloosa, but those who watched the Crimson Tide play week-to-week saw him drop dime after dime after dime. He had a strong rookie season with the Patriots after that, but incompetent and inconsistent coaching derailed what could've been for the former National Champion.
Now, in a system that puts quarterbacks in position to succeed, Jones is showing what he can do. Fans of the 49ers - and plenty of NFL pundits - are coming around to what Alabama fans have always known.

Man Mac Jones battled his ass off for that win.

Knee brace, ripped jersey, grit
Mac Jones is, and always has been, a gamer. He'll put it all on the line to win a football game. It's one of the reasons every locker room he's ever been in has rallied around him.

This happened in the first half! And he was hobbled with a knee brace. Just gutted it out.
Mac Jones being a primary reason why the 49ers are undefeated has been a pleasant surprise. You could see how much that win meant to him at the end.

It's not a surprise to Alabama fans. I truly believe we would look at Jones completely differently had he been drafted by the 49ers in 2021 instead of the Patriots.

Jones came through in the clutch. With under two to go, he engineered a beautiful drive to set up the game-winning field goal.

Is that good? It looks good.
So Mac Jones can do everything Brock Purdy does with Shanahan.

I'm not saying that, but I'm also not saying it.
