A day I never thought I would see as an Alabama Fan

Vanderbilt outplayed Alabama all day and it led to a day most Tide fans never thought they would see

I've seen a lot of crazy things as an Alabama fan but this is a day I never thought I'd see. Vanderbilt not only won the game but did so in convincing fashion. Diego Pavia put on a performance of a lifetime and the Alabama defense had no answers all day. I kept looking to see if Pete Golding was somehow back on the sidelines calling plays. This defense couldn't stop a nosebleed when a stop was most needed and kudos to Vanderbilt for taking advantage on seemingly every possession.

The Commodores got off to a 13-0 start and never looked back even when the Tide cut into the lead. There was a certain level of confidence from Vanderbilt that Bama just couldn't match from the get-go.

Pavia was absolutely lethal on third down and the Kane Wommack's defense never figured out how to stop the option run. It is crazy how quickly things change for a team who went from an epic win over Georgia to one of the embarrassing losses in school history.

We will find out about this Alabama team but after today and the rest of the October schedule I am not sure how much faith I have in this team, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. Maybe this was just a once in a lifetime performance by Vanderbilt, but South Carolina, Tennessee, and Missouri have to be licking their chops after what they saw from this lack of defense. I can only imagine how the local radio shows and the Finebaum show will sound like on Monday.

As good as the start to Kalen Deboer's tenure has started in Tuscaloosa he is about to find out how tough it can be after a loss of this magnitude. Kudos to Clark Lea for the biggest win in program history and it be interesting to see what Vandy does going forward. As far as what is going on in Tuscaloosa, I would have thought the near collapse last week would have been enough of a wakeup call going into this week.

Hopefully this humbling in Nashville will be what motivates this team for the rest of the season.
