Alabama Basketball Forward Kris Parker to Transfer
Alabama Basketball has its first departure of the off-season as Freshman Forward Kris Parker is entering the transfer portal. Parker was the 108th-ranked player in the 2023 recruiting class and the 28th ranked Small Forward. The Freshman wing suffered an eye injury early on in the season and ultimately ended up redshirting for the year so he'll have four years of eligibility at his next school.
This comes as a disappointment as Parker never got onto the court for the Alabama Crimson Tide despite loads of talent. The unexpected roster spot opening up will likely lead to Nate Oats pursuing another player via the transfer portal. There's still a chance that the 6"9 forward returns to Tuscaloosa but, it's highly unlikely.
This is the first domino of the off-season for Nate Oats and the program as they look to retain key pieces from this year's final four teams. The team is still awaiting draft decisions from Mark Sears, Grant Nelson, and Latrell Wrightsell among several other decisions.
The Tide will bring in Small Forward Naas Cunningham a four-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting class as well as Rylen Griffen at the position. The Tide have already reached out to transfers Frankie Fidler and Roddy Gayle Jr who may end up playing Small Forward in Tuscaloosa.
Expect an action-packed off-season for Alabama Basketball
This off-season will be filled with action for Alabama, even after Nate Oats turned down the Kentucky job. The team will see a few more players enter the transfer portal while a few may depart for the NBA. The Tide are expected to be major players in the transfer portal as they've been the past few seasons. Nate Oats will likely pursue a guard or two as well as a more traditional defensive center. Depending on how well this off-season goes the Tide may enter the season as one of the National Championship Favorites.
