Alabama Football: Day-by-day lead-up to the Rose Bowl
By Ronald Evans
Tuesday is a travel day for Alabama Football. The Crimson Tide will have a busy schedule after arriving in southern California. There will be media sessions Wednesday through Sunday. A full schedule is provided below.
It will be a normal practice week for the Crimson Tide with two exceptions. On Thursday and Saturday, some portions of practice will be open to the media for viewing.
Though there will be special events for the players, foremost is game week work. Nick Saban has been very clear about the focus required of the players.
"We have some responsibilities that sort of go with the territory, that are required for the players to be involved in,” said Alabama head coach Nick Saban last week. “But I think it takes mature guys to be able to manage external factors that can cloud how focused you are and what you need to do.

“… Excellence has a price. It doesn’t come easy. It’s not free. So we’ve all got to make an investment in what we’ve got to do ... I don’t care if we have media or whatever that we have to deal with, we’ve got to focus on what we’ve got to do on the field to play well, and that’s got to be the No. 1 priority for all of us."
Unless the betting odds change, Alabama Football will be the underdog on Monday. No doubt, Nick Saban will maximize that status. Taking on a No. 1 team and winning is a Crimson Tide superlative. In college football's poll era, the Crimson Tide has beaten No. 1 ranked AP teams 11 times. Only six programs have more than five wins over No. 1 teams. Trailing Alabama are Notre Dame and Miami with nine wins, followed by USC, Purdue and Oklahoma with seven each.
