Alabama Football Depth Chart Predictions: Defensive Line
Bandit
1. Jah-Marien Latham (Redshirt Senior)
2. LT Overton (Junior)
3. Jordan Renaud (Redshirt Freshman) OR Keon Keeley (Redshirt Freshman)
4. Hunter Osborne (Redshirt Freshman)
5. Jeremiah Beaman (Freshman)
Bandit is one of the most intriguing positions on the entire roster. A cross between a defensive tackle and an edge, the Bandit is very similar to a true 5-tech defensive end. For reference, think of the prototypical strongside defensive end in Nick Saban's base 3-4.
Redshirt senior Jah-Marien Latham (13 career tackles, 1.5 sacks) and Texas A&M transfer LT Overton (48 career tackles) will eat up most of the reps here and should be very dependable.
Behind them, second-year player Jordan Renaud is waiting in the wings. Fans are itching to see fellow redshirt freshman Keon Keeley on the field, but Keeley will need to gain weight and acclimate to a slight position change after playing the edge last season. Youngsters Hunter Osborne and Jeremiah Beaman also need some time in the strength & conditioning program, and may project to eventually play one of the interior positions.
Look for the Alabama defensive line to be very stingy against the run and free up the Bama linebackers to make plays. That is the baseline outlook for this unit; if it can be more disruptive and find one or two effective pass-rushers, it can be one of the strongest position groups on the team.
