The Alabama secondary is arguably the biggest point of contention on the entire roster. While there is no lack of talent on the back end of the Crimson Tide defense, there is certainly a lack of experience, and SEC experience in particular.

The Tide sustained numerous losses in the secondary in the NFL Draft as well as the transfer portal, most notably losing a trio of first team All-SEC performers in Terrion Arnold, Kool-Aid McKinstry, and Caleb Downs.

The Tide was able to supplement using the transfer portal and a loaded freshman class, but it remains to be seen if and how the pieces will fit together.

Cornerback

1. Domani Jackson (Junior)

2. Jahlil Hurley (Redshirt Freshman)

3. Zay Mincey (Freshman)

Cornerback

1. Dashawn Jones (Junior) OR Zabien Brown (Freshman)

2. Jaylen Mbakwe (Freshman)

The six corners on Bama’s roster include two transfers, three true freshmen, and a redshirt freshman. This group will have to prove to be reliable for the defense to reach its full potential.

Domani Jackson and Dashawn Jones are the projected starters by default as the only players in the room with collegiate experience, but true freshman Zabien Brown looked ready to go in spring ball and could push for a spot.

Fellow 5-stars Jaylen Mbakwe and Zay Mincey are physical specimens, and Jahlil Hurley enters year two after being a highly regarded recruit in his own right.
