Husky

1. Devonta Smith (Redshirt Junior)

2. Red Morgan (Freshman)

3. Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. (Freshman)

Devonta Smith has patiently waited his turn and appears to be the leader at the Husky position. Smith was projected to start at safety last season before an injury set him back. He will be pushed by true freshman Red Morgan who, like Zabien Brown, was impressive in the spring. Kirkpatrick Jr. is a legacy recruit and a versatile DB who can play on the perimeter as well as in the slot.

Free Safety

1. Keon Sabb (Redshirt Sophomore)

2. Kam Howard (Sophomore)

The safety room is composed primarily of transfers, and former Michigan safety Keon Sabb projects as a starter. Sabb played a consequential role for the national champs last season, notching 28 tackles with five pass breakups and a pair of interceptions.

Fellow transfer Kam Howard, who comes over from Charlotte, also has significant experience. Howard should provide quality depth and could be a valuable special teams player.
