The common theme among members of the media and those wishing for the Alabama Football program's downfall is that there's no chance the Alabama Football team can survive the transfer portal losses. The losses have been significant however, this team still is loaded talent-wise and has brought in the second-ranked recruiting class in the country. While at Washington Kalen DeBoer only coached two five-star recruits for one season, next season his Alabama Football team will have eleven five-star recruits should things stay the same.

The best quarterback DeBoer has ever had was Michael Penix Jr who was just a three-star recruit, on next year's roster is four-star Jalen Milroe, Five-Star Ty Simpson, Four-Star Dylan Lonergan, and Four-star Austin Mack. The same can be said for his best running back, former three-star recruit Dillon Johnson who rushed for a career-high 1,195 yards in his lone season at Washington. Now he'll have former five-star running back Justice Haynes, four-star Jam Miller, and four-star Richard Young.

The position everyone should be the most excited for is wide receiver, where Kalen DeBoer only ever had four stars, yet Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan, and Ja'Lynn Polk became the best wide receiver room in the country. Now DeBoer, Grubb, and receivers coach Jamarcus Shephard will need to develop three new starting receivers. From that group, they'll have former five-star recruit Jalen Hale and four stars in Kobe Prentice, Kendrick Law, and four-star recruits in this year's class Amari Jefferson, Rico Scott, and Aeryn Hampton.

On the defensive side of the football, the team will by far have more talent than any team Kalen DeBoer has ever coached. He'll coach five stars Keon Keeley, Jeremiah Alexander, Jihaad Campbell, James Smith, Damon Payne Jr, Yhonzae Pierre, Qua Russaw, and Jaylen Mbakwe. At every position defensively the Alabama Football team will have more talent than Kalen DeBoer had at Washington.

The Washington Huskies ranked 26th in the 24/7 Sports Team Talent Composite in 2023 while Alabama was ranked first. DeBoer and Washington beat sixth-ranked Texas, eighth-ranked USC, tenth-ranked Oregon twice, and 27th-ranked Michigan State. Kalen DeBoer won four times last season in games where he had the second-most-talented team on the field.

Despite all of the departures to the transfer portal, Alabama will still rank in the top ten talent-wise. This should be exciting for Alabama Football fans as DeBoer has always won with less talent with his worst non-covid season coming in 2021 with a 9-3 record at Fresno State.

Alabama Football: DeBoer's staff will stand out early.

The thing that will stand out this season is how well the coaching staff will help in development. Ryan Grubb has become one of the top offensive coordinators in the country turning the Huskies into the nation's leader in passing yards per game, first downs per game, and third down percentage while ranking second in total offense and seventh in scoring in their first season coaching the Huskies. Receivers coach Jamarcus Shephard will have put three receivers into the NFL this season after winning multiple wide receiver coaching awards. Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack and his defense ranked 15th in total defense. The theme fans will see as this season progresses is that Nick Saban's staff wasn't doing as well developing players as we'd all thought.
