Alabama Football: Early Signing Day Updates

Alabama Football enters early signing day with the third-ranked recruiting class. With how crazy recruiting has gotten, it's possible the Crimson Tide could end up with the top-ranked class or fall out of the top five completely. The Alabama Football team currently has 22 commitments, not all of which will sign during signing day. That number may increase or decrease as the day progresses. Here's a look at which announcements should be watched closely as Alabama's recruiting battles come to an end.

Favour Edwin - 3 Star - OT - Time Unkown

Alabama and Auburn have been in a battle for 3-star offensive tackle Favour Edwin who's currently uncommitted. It's unclear when Edwin will announce the decision but, it will be announced on his social media accounts. Edwin has a massive 6-foot-7 frame that could lead to him being an elite offensive tackle after spending some time in the Alabama strength and conditioning program. My prediction is that Edwin signs with Alabama, he's made it clear that early playing time and NIL aren't a priority but, development is and what program has a better track record at developing players than Nick Saban at Alabama.

Perry Thompson - 5 Star - WR - 9 AM CT - Auburn Commit

Alabama Football once landed the commitment of Perry Thompson before he flipped his commitment to Auburn. Regardless, Alabama has stayed in touch throughout the entire process they may not have done enough to flip him back towards the Alabama Football program but, there's at least a chance.

Eddrick Houston - 5 Star - EDGE - Noon CT - Ohio State Commit

The hottest name in flipping season for the Alabama Football Program has been five-star edge rusher Eddrick Houston. Houston has been committed to Ohio State for a while but, took a visit to Tuscaloosa this past weekend and may not be 100% in his commitment to the Buckeyes. The Buford native will have the opportunity to reunite with former teammates Isaiah Bond, Justice Haynes, and Jake Pope should he flip his commitment to Alabama.

Kevin Riley - 4 Star - Running Back - 1PM CT - Miami Commit

If there's one name I'd pencil in as a flip I expect the Crimson Tide to land it's the Tuscaloosa native Kevin Riley. Riley is committed to the Miami Hurricanes however, he took a late official visit to Alabama and the Crimson Tide appears to have momentum. Working in the Alabama Football program's favor is Miami flipping long-time Ohio State commitment Jordan Lyle who flipped on Monday Night adding another running back to Miami's recruiting class. The Alabama recruiting class is lacking a running back and I fully believe they land Riley or Jadan Baugh who we'll get into later.

Aeryn Hampton - 4 star - Safety - Time unknown - Texas commitment

The latest buzz is that Alabama once again has a shot at the 11th-ranked athlete in the class who'll most likely play safety in college in Aeryn Hampton. Despite Hampton's commitment to Texas Tommy Rees and Nick Saban both made visits to Hampton in Texas in an attempt to flip the safety. The confidence level isn't as high in this case as a Kevin Riley or Eddrick Houston however it's certainly a storyline to follow.

Steve Mboumoua - 4 star - Edge - Afternoon - Uncommitted

The four-star edge has gone his whole recruitment without really giving off any feel in which direction his commitment may land. Mboumoua did visit in early December along with players such as Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. Mboumoua has been in constant contact throughout the process with coach Freddie Roach and said he talks with Nick Saban frequently. Alabama Football is certainly one of the favorites to land Mboumoua who hasn't announced when he'll be announcing his decision.

Solomon Williams - 4 star - Edge - 3PM CT - Uncommitted

In what has been a back-and-forth battle between Texas A&M and Alabama will seemingly come to an end tomorrow afternoon when Williams announces his decision. Even with the coaching change at Texas A&M Mike Elko has kept the aggies in the race which is now down to five teams. Williams announced that he'll sign at 3PM central time and that his final five are Alabama, Oregon, Clemson, Texas A&M, and Texas.

Jadan Baugh - 4 Star - Running back - 5:30 CT - Decommitted from Arkansas 12/18

Baugh had been committed to Arkansas since May before decommitting on Monday night. This has seemingly opened the door for Alabama and the Florida Gators who are the front runners while Arkansas also may have a chance. Signs are pointing towards Florida as he took a visit to Gainsville a week before changing his commitment but, with Alabama's class lacking a running back it very well may end up a coin flip for Baugh.

Alabama Football: Early Signing Day Excitement

Early signing day has officially become a holiday for College Football fans since social media has made it easier to follow along with your schools' top targets. This year feels especially exciting for the Alabama Football program as plenty seems to be up in the air heading into Early Signing Day as it will be an uphill climb to once again claim the nation's top class. There's extra excitement in the fact that we will see Dre Kirkpatrick Jr sign with Alabama not too long after his dad dominated for Nick Saban as a member of the Alabama Football team. While Kirkpatrick Jr isn't doing an official ceremony it will be exciting to receive the news of Kirkpatrick joining the Crimson Tide.
