Based on the latest from ESPN Analytics, week two of college football finished with a new top dog in the SEC. A big road win over Michigan pushed the Texas Longhorns to the No. 1 spot in the ESPN FPI.
Alabama football fans can take heart that the Crimson Tide remained near the top in ESPN's rankings at No. 3, down one spot after the rocky win over USF. The Georgia Bulldogs also slid one spot to No. 2.
Eight of the SEC's teams went down in the rankings, with the Kentucky Wildcats taking by far the biggest fall, down 27 spots after losing badly at home to South Carolina. The SEC's biggest upward mover was South Carolina, up 16 spots after beating Kentucky 31-6 in Lexington.
In other big swings by SEC teams, the Vanderbilt Commodores moved up 14 spots. The Dores moved to 2-0, after beating Alcorn State, 55-0. The second biggest drop among SEC teams was the Auburn Tigers. The Aubies slipped nine spots, after losing at home to the Cal Bears, 21-14.
The SEC was 3-3 against Power Four competition. Texas, Tennessee, and Oklahoma won, with Auburn, Mississippi State, and Arkansas losing.
