When letters of intent roll in on Wednesday for Early Signing Day among the ones sent to the Alabama Football team will be Jameer Grimsley’s. Grimsley is a four-star cornerback out of Tampa, Florida who committed to the Alabama Football program in July. According to 247 Sports Grimsley is the 19th ranked cornerback in the country and the 233rd overall prospect. The news of Grimsley officially shutting down his recruitment is similar to Caleb Odom doing the same earlier this month making it public they're officially signing with the Tide before signing.
The four-star cornerback has officially shut down his recruitment and will sign with Alabama Football on Wednesday saying the following via On3 Sports:
"I'm coming home"Jameer Grimsley
The Florida Gators made a late push as Billy Napier attempted to flip the cornerback. The Tampa, Florida native visited Gainesville last week as Napier attempted to flip him however, he held strong with his commitment to Alabama.
Grimsley will have an opportunity this spring and fall to earn a starting job at cornerback with departures of Kool-Aid Mckinstry and Terrion Arnold seeming likely. Cornerback is one of the biggest positions of need for the Alabama Football team this offseason with the departures of McKinstry and Arnold and a lack of experienced depth behind the duo. If Nick Saban and the coaching staff don't land a cornerback out of the transfer portal then younger players like Grimsley, Earl Little, and Jaylen Mbakwe among others may be competing for starting roles earlier than expected.
Alabama Football: Flip watch ahead of Early Signing Day?
As December 20th is right around the corner we're just days away from early signing day where we may see Nick Saban flip a top-tier recruit or two. The main name to watch currently is Kevin Riley the Tuscaloosa Native is committed to Miami but, took an official visit this weekend to Alabama and may be persuaded into staying home and playing for the Tide. Another name to watch is five-star wide receiver and Auburn commit Perry Thompson. Thompson was at one point an Alabama commit before flipping to Auburn, Nick Saban and members of the coaching staff visited Thompson last week in hopes of flipping Thompson back to the Alabama Football program. Two additional names to watch are Favour Edwin and Jayshawn Ross who visited Alabama last week picking up 247 sports crystal balls to Alabama despite not yet committing.
