As he said he would do on Saturday, the new Alabama Football, Head Coach is moving quickly. For Bama fans looking for more info, there has been plenty to much on; but nothing official. At rolltide.com, only one name is listed under Coaching Staff. It is Kalen DeBoer.

Based on multiple sources, including ESPN's always-dependable Chris Low. The new Alabama Crimson Tide offensive staff is set. The five assistants are listed below, along with their previous titles and anticipated position group assignments.

Kalen DeBoer Alabama Football Offensive Staff

  • Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach: Ryan Grubb - Grubb had the same position for DeBoer at Washington. Alabama football insiders state that Grubb was Nick Saban's top choice before hiring Tommy Rees. There was some thought Grubb would be elevated to Washington's head coach. It is a big plus for the Crimson Tide that he was not.
  • Running Backs Coach: Robert Gillespie - Chris Lowe reported Robert Gillespie is expected to be retained by DeBoer. Keeping Gillespie in Tuscaloosa is another win for the Crimson Tide.
  • Offensive Line Coach: Scott Huff - At Washington, Huff built one of college football's top offensive lines. His unit won the 2023 Joe Moore Award, as college football's top offensive line.
  • Wide Receivers Coach: JaMarcus Shephard - Shephard has drawn praise for his work at Washington State, Purdue, and Washington. The top Huskies receiver in 2023, Rome Odunze recently was a Consensus All-American and Biletnikoff Award finalist. Shephard's title at Washington was Associate Head Coach and Passing Coordinator, as well as the receivers coach.
  • Tight Ends Coach: Nick Sheridan - Sheridan was a walk-on QB at Michigan, who won a scholarship. Before joining Kalen DeBoer at Washington, Sheridan spent five seasons on the Indiana staff. In four of the five seasons, he was the Quarterback Coach, and in two of the five, the Hoosiers' Offensive Coordinator.

Per Chris Low, DeBoer also intends to retain Freddie Roach on the Crimson Tide's defensive staff.

As discussed in an earlier post, perhaps the most important new Crimson Tide addition is Courtney Morgan, who arrived in Tuscaloosa with DeBoer. Morgan is DeBoer's roster-building wizard, who has earned recognition for his role in the rapid turnaround of the Washington Huskies.
