Alabama Football: Names to watch at quarterback in 2025 recruiting class
After missing out on top quarterback recruits Bryce Underwood and George MacIntyre in the 2025 recruiting class the Alabama Football program will need to pivot in landing a top quarterback commitment. While Kalen DeBoer and Ryann Grubb can continue to pursue the prized recruits it's unlikely that either will flip their commitments. There are still plenty of names to watch in the 2025 recruiting class which will be an interesting storyline with the recent departure of Julian Sayin and the addition of Austin Mack.
Julian Lewis - fourth-ranked quarterback - Carrollton, GA
Despite his commitment to the USC Trojans the Alabama Football team is certainly still in the race for Julian Lewis. Ryann Grubb reached out to the four-star quarterback on Monday re-offering him to reaffirm the program's interest in Lewis. Julian Lewis will be a riser as recruitment moves along as he was the 2026 recruiting class's top quarterback and top overall recruit before reclassifying. Lewis will be throwing to a familiar face if he joins the Alabama Football program in 2024 signee Caleb Odom who was on the receiving end of 12 touchdowns from Lewis in 2023.
Antwan Hill - sixth-ranked quarterback - Warner Robins, GA
If there was no turnover on the coaching staff it's very likely the Alabama Football team would have signed Antwann Hill. Tommy Rees had built a strong relationship with the four-star quarterback offering Hill a scholarship in the spring. Hill has also committed to and de-committed from Colorado meaning this recruiting battle may be a fight until signing day. Hill appeared to be a top target for the Alabama Football team under Nick Saban but, we'll now wait and see if Kalen DeBoer and his staff re-offer Hill.
KJ Lacey - 13th ranked quarterback - Saraland, AL
Lacey will be a massive target for the Alabama Football program despite his current commitment to the Texas Longhorns. At Saraland High School, Lacey passes to another massive target for the Alabama Football program Ryan Williams. The dynamic duo visited coach Deboer in Tuscaloosa this weekend as the dup continues their recruitment tour.
Lacey was a standout this season at Saraland passing for 3,448 yards and 42 touchdowns in 2023 adding an additional five touchdowns on the ground. At 6"0 170 pounds Lacey has a similar build to Bryce Young which could have been a bigger factor if Nick Saban was still the Head Coach. If the Alabama Football program is able to land Ryan Williams, it could provide KJ Lacey with a massive motivation to sign with Alabama.
The emphasis on landing an in-state talent like Lacey at home will be one of the more important tasks for Kalen DeBoer and his staff. Lacey is the top quarterback in the state of Alabama and the thirteenth ranked player in the State overall.
Bear Bachmeier - 15th ranked quarterback - Murrieta, CA
Bachmeier like Antwann Hill was one of the Alabama Football team's top targets at quarterback under the Nick Saban regime. The South California native was strongly considering the Alabama Football team among several other teams but, we've gotten no update on his status with Kalen DeBoer now at the helm. There's certainly still a strong chance that Bachmeier ends up at Alabama, especially with Courtney Morgan's West Coast connections. In the summer Bachmeier spoke on the Alabama Football program saying the following:
"It is a very historical and dominant program. I love the thought of coming in, winning games and competing for a National Championship."

Jackson Kollock - 18th Ranked Quarterback - Laguna Beach, CA
Kollock didn't have any significant ties before the regime change but, the three-star quarterback was committed to Washington before, reopening his recruitment with Kalen DeBoer's departure. It's unclear if Kollock is interested in moving east or if DeBoer will continue to pursue Kollock but, there's still plenty of time for the team to recruit him.
Deuce Knight - Eighth-ranked quarterback - Lucedale, MS
While Knight is committed to Notre Dame that certainly won't stop Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Grubb from recruiting the four-star quarterback. Kalen DeBoer and his staff have talked with Knight giving him an offer to join the Alabama Football program. DeBoer has a connection with Deuce Knight and his family as well, as DeBoer was the offensive coordinator for Knight's brother Ty Fryfogle in 2019 at Indiana. Kalen DeBoer has put an emphasis on Knight visiting his High School on Monday as he looks to continue to build relationships.
