Alabama Football opens as slight underdog to Georgia
Alabama Football is rarely the underdog, but it has become commonplace when the Crimson Tide hit the field against the Georgia Bulldogs.
For the fourth straight time against the Bulldogs, Alabama opens as a slight underdog. Georgia was favored over Alabama by 5.5 points in last December's SEC Championship Game, and Georgia was favored in both meetings between the two teams during the 2021 season.
Alabama was last favored in a game against Georgia during the 2020 regular season meeting in Tuscaloosa.
Per FanDuel, Alabama is a 2.5 point underdog for next week's game. That spread will ebb and flow in the next eight days prior to kickoff, but as it stands the Crimson Tide will play the role of underdog once more.
In the three previous meetings where Alabama was the underdog to Georgia, the Crimson Tide won outright twice. They also saw themselves as slight underdogs back in 2015 when Alabama traveled to Athens, and the Crimson Tide rolled past the Bulldogs in a 38-10 victory.
The spread would have likely opened a little higher if not for Georgia's lackluster road performance last week where they squeaked by with a 13-12 win over Kentucky. Alabama's 42-10 blowout of Wisconsin on the road teammed with it to push the Crimson Tide ahead of the Bulldogs in both ESPN's FPI and SP+ rankings.
