Alabama Football is projected to play 10 bowl teams in the regular season

An Alabama Football regular season against 10 projected bowl teams would be life in the fast lane for most teams. That Alabama is projected as the favorite in eight of those 10 games does little to diminish the difficulty, but the Crimson Tide should be up to the challenge.

The bowl predictions are provided by Athlon Sports, and published by On3.

Thirteen SEC teams are projected to compete in post-season play. Only four SEC teams are projected for the first 12-team CFB Playoffs field. They are Georgia as the No. 1 seed; Texas as the No. 6 seed; Ole Miss as the No. 7 seed and Alabama Football as the No. 8 seed.

In the No. 8 slot, the Crimson Tide would meet No. 9 seed Michigan Wolverines in the Playoffs First Round. A win over Michigan would advance Alabama to a Quarter-final contest against the Georgia Bulldogs.

As the 6-seed, Texas would play 11-seed Notre Dame; 7-seed Ole Miss would play 10-seed Penn State.

The SEC Football 'Also-Ran Division'

Nine more SEC teams are projected to be awarded with bowl games. For some of the programs, a bowl game would bring some satisfaction. For others, not making the expanded Playoffs would be huge disappointment.

As projected, at the top of the huge disappointment list would be LSU, Tennessee, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The Bengal Tigers are projected to the Gator Bowl against the Miami Hurricanes. The Vols are projected to the ReliaQuest Bowl to take on Nebraska. Missouri is predicted to the Citrus Bowl against Iowa. Oklahoma is predicted to the Texas Bowl against Kansas.

Other projected bowl games for SEC teams

• Birmingham Bowl - South Carolina vs. Tulane

• Gasparilla Bowl - Florida vs. SMU

• Las Vegas Bowl - Texas A&M vs. Arizona

• Music City Bowl - Kentucky vs. Wisconsin

• Liberty Bowl - Auburn vs. West Virginia

Getting back to projected bowl teams on the Alabama Crimson Tide schedule; South Florida is projected to play in the Fenway Bowl against Georgia Tech. Western Kentucky is projected to play in the New Orleans Bowl against Louisiana.

Adding to a list of potential Alabama Crimson Tide post-season opponents, additional games could be Georgia in the SEC Championship Game and a third game against the Bulldogs in the Playoff Quarter-finals. That would make for an exciting season for Alabama fans, plus the possibility of two more top opponents after an Alabama victory over Georgia in the Playoffs.
